DAY 1: Depart for Germany
DAY 2: Arrive in Frankfurt

Arrive in Frankfurt and transfer to your hotel in nearby Mainz on the storied Rhine River. The remainder of the day is on your own to rest and relax. In the evening, a briefing by your Tour Manager introduces you to the delightful program that lies ahead, followed by a Welcome Drink and Dinner with your fellow travelers.

DAY 3: Rhine River Cruise & Heidelberg City Tour
The morning begins with a cruise on the scenic Rhine. See stunning vistas of hilltop castles, terraced vineyards and villages of timber-framed houses along the course of the river. Pass the mighty Lorelei rock rising vertically from the waters named for the siren “Lorelei” who bewitched sailors passing by. In Heidelberg, home to the oldest university in Germany, view the imposing red sandstone ruins of Heidelberg Castle originally built in the 12th century. This hilltop Gothic masterpiece has encountered turbulent times but still stands as a dominant symbol of the city. Balance of the day is at leisure in Heidelberg to discover the enchanting alleys and lanes in the Old Town with its small gardens, museums and lovely galleries.

DAY 4: Black Forest
Head south on a scenic drive through the Black Forest region, an area of unrivaled natural beauty with its dense forests of thick pine trees. Nestled in the forest, you will see some of the charming traditional homes with their long sloping roofs. Continue on a drive to Schaffhausen, surrounded by vineyards. Here, you will see the thunderous Rhine Waterfalls; one of Europe’s largest and most powerful. Then, on to beautiful Lucerne, with its pristine lakeside setting and gorgeous mountainous panorama. Spend two relaxing nights here in the center of the Swiss Alps.

DAY 5: Full Day in Lucerne
A full day to explore the heart of central Switzerland. Begin the day at the inspiring Lion Monument, one of the best-known monuments in the country, created in remembrance of the heroic death of Swiss guard killed in 1792. Continue to the 14th century medieval Chapel Bridge one of the oldest covered wooden bridges in Europe, forming the centerpiece of Lucerne’s townscape. Later, time to shop for chocolate, watches and the famous Swiss and German cuckoo clocks or sip coffee at an outdoor cafe. In the afternoon, there is an opportunity to join the exciting optional tour to Mount Pilatus. Ascend the world’s steepest cogwheel railway which winds up through lush meadows and sparkling mountain streams to the summit of Mt. Pilatus at nearly 7000 feet. After admiring the splendid panorama, descend by aerial cableway and return to your hotel

DAY 6: Neuschwanstein Castle
The first stop today is in the tiny storybook Principality of Liechtenstein and its capital Vaduz, a proud remnant of feudal Europe, sandwiched between Switzerland and Austria. Next, drive through glorious Alpine scenery to visit Bavaria’s “Mad” King Ludwig’s fantasy castle of Neuschwanstein perched high above the valley below. This is one of the most visited castles in Germany and a symbol of idealized romantic architecture. Among the castle’s finest rooms are two magnificent halls with extravagant decorations dazzling in gold and blue. Cross into Austria via the mighty Fern Pass and journey to Innsbruck, the Tyrolean “capital” of the Austrian Alps

DAY 7: Full Day in Innsbruck
Steeped in centuries of colorful history, Innsbruck features fine examples of Imperial splendor. Journey back in time with an array of splendid architectural gems from the Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Neoclassical period. On your orientation tour, stop at the Golden Roof, overlooking a bustling square in the heart of historic Innsbruck and the Wilten Basilica, one of the most splendid churches in Tyrol with its stunning rococo decorations. Innsbruck has also hosted two Olympic Winter Games (1964 and 1976). See the famous ski jump used in the winter Olympics. Enjoy the afternoon optional tour to charming Seefeld with Carriage Ride. DAY 8: Salzburg City Tour
After breakfast, travel to Salzburg. This baroque jewel was the birthplace of Mozart. The guided walking tour takes you to view the house where Mozart was born, as well as to the squares and gardens of this beautiful city, crowned by the 11th century Hohensalzburg Fortress. The city is also known for the singing von Trapp family and the setting for the film, The Sound of Music. More time to explore charming Salzburg, or participate in the optional excursion into the surrounding countryside to the ruins of Obersalzberg, once a mountain retreat for senior Nazi SS officers. Then, transfer to special motor coaches adapted for the scenic mountain climb and ascend to Hitler’s notorious “Eagle’s Nest.”

DAY 9: Explore Munich
This morning, continue to Munich. Arrive at Marienplatz square, cultural center of the city, dominated by the gothic New Town Hall housing Munich’s world-famous Glockenspiel, which dates back to 1908. This colorful mechanical clock has life-size figures that dance to music with shows several times a day. In the afternoon, a guided city tour takes you past the Olympic Stadium situated in the heart of Olympia Park in northern Munich built as the main venue for the 1972 Summer Olympics. Continue for a photo stop at the breathtaking Nymphenburg Palace, once summer residence of the rulers of Bavaria, decorated with a gorgeous baroque façade. Driving through the city, you see countless museums, galleries, palaces and impressive historic monuments. A free evening perhaps to visit one of the famous beer halls!

DAY1: Depart for Italy
DAY2: Arrive in Venice
Arrive in glorious Venice with its astonishing treasures; transfer to your hotel independently. Balance of the day is at leisure in this city built on over a 100 small islands and connected by 400 bridges. Venice is truly an artistic masterpiece. This evening, enjoy a Welcome Drink and an orientation meeting with your Tour Manager.

DAY 3: Full Day in Venice
Today you can spend the day at your leisure or, choose to participate in an optional walking tour of some of the most famous Venetian sights. The tour starts with a visit to a glass blowing factory in Murano, known for its artistic and colorful Murano glassware. Then travel to St. Mark’s Square where you will learn about the Square’s most prominent monuments, including the Golden Basilica of San Marco, the Doge’s Palace as well as the Bell and Clock Towers. Proceed to Santa Maria Formosa Square and Campo SS. Giovanni e Paolo, the second largest square in Venice. Continue to the corner of Marco Polo’s house and Malibran Theater. Then, return to St. Mark’s Square through the Mercerie, a series of interconnecting streets that link the Rialto Bridge and St. Mark’s Square, and are the main streets in the city for shopping. Please note: This is a walking and orientation tour of Venice and does not include entry into any landmarks and ends in St. Mark’s Square. Florence and the fine arts are synonymous. This guided tour of the Uffizi Gallery provides insight to the history of the structure and its collections. Originally the private collection of the Medici family, the palazzo was opened to the public in 1765. Your tour highlights exceptional examples of Florentine painting with an aim to help you better understand the works of masters including Giotto, Botticelli, and Leonardo da Vinci. Depart Florence to the small medieval town of Assisi perched high on a hill in the Umbria region, with its Roman ruins, winding medieval streets and sacred shrines. Assisi is best known as the birthplace of St. Francis of Assisi – patron saint of Italy. Its main attraction is the 13th century Basilica di San Francesco, one of the artistic highlights of medieval Europe, which contains the sacred relics of St. Francis and Giotto’s astonishing frescoes. The town of Assisi has been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site for its significant art and architecture. Afterwards, continue to Rome, the astonishing city built on seven hills.

Spend your last day at leisure, exploring “The Eternal City” or, choose to join the optional Ancient Rome tour. Gain special access to the mighty Colosseum, the largest amphitheater built in the Roman Empire that seated over 50,000. DAY 2: Arrive in Amsterdam
Arrive in Amsterdam and transfer to your hotel. Most flights arrive in the early morning and your room may not be ready for you. In this case, leave your luggage with the concierge and your Tour Manager will provide suggestions for you to begin to explore the city on your own. This evening, enjoy a Welcome Drink and orientation followed by dinner.

DAY 3: Amsterdam City Tour and Volendam
This morning, cruise the canals in a glass-top boat and view historic homes, 16th-century merchant houses, and charming churches with bell towers. View the harbor, gabled mansions, and the “Skinny Bridge.” Enjoy a drive through the museum district, where you will view the Royal Palace and Dam Square. This afternoon, enjoy a tour of traditional Holland that includes a visit to Volendam, a charming fishing village on the old Zuiderzee. Next, visit a cheese farm and see a working windmill and clogmakers. Tonight, you may wish to participate in the optional dinner at a cozy Dutch restaurant followed by a walking tour with your guide to explore the narrow canals and lanes of the notorious “Red Light” district. The historic bridges and classical architecture of Amsterdam truly come alive at night.

This morning, travel through Holland’s open fields, criss-crossed with canals and windmills to reach Belgium. Stroll the city center to view the famous Mannekin Pis fountain. Afterward, continue to the city of Bruges, also known as the “Venice of the North”, and home to some of Europe’s best preserved medieval buildings. Tonight, dinner is in a local restaurant.

DAY 5: Bruges City Tour
This morning, enjoy a delightful orientation in Bruges with its charming squares and historic buildings. The tour takes you first to view the Lake of Love (Minnewater) and the Beguinage convent. Continue with a walking tour of the city’s medieval districts, where you will visit Our Lady’s Church, which houses the famous Madonna statue by Michelangelo, the Market Square and Belfry, and the Town Hall Square with its Chapel of the Holy Blood. Later, depart Bruges for Paris where you will have the evening at leisure, or you can join the optional tour to discover the “City of Lights” with the illumination tour and dinner in a typical French bistro.

You will see some of the most famous art works of all time, highlighted by the Venus de Milo, the Winged Victory of Samothrace, and the museum’s most reputed masterpiece, Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa.

DAY 8: Travel to London via the Chunnel
On arrival in London, meet your coach and guide and begin your panoramic tour of London.* First photo stop is the Tower of London, where you’ll see views of the splendid Tower Bridge and the amazing “Shard of Glass”. Next embark on a short cruise along the Thames seeing all the major landmarks from the river such as St. Paul’s Cathedral, Shakespeare’s Globe and the Tate Modern.
